24 Weeks...on the dot.

I finally was able to catch up. I am actually posting this the DAY that I am 24 weeks preggers. It's amazing what a vacation and spring break can help you do...There is so much to talk about that I will skim over some of the more boring details. Here I am...24 weeks pregnant. My belly is starting to stick out, it is pretty much impossible to deny that I am pregnant (not that I would), and all I want to do is wear outfits much like this all the time. Every day. It could be worse...say a Muumuu perhaps? I did go to the doctor last Friday before my cruise for a glucose test...and apparently my results were 2 points higher than what they would like so that means more glucose tests in my future! Weight gain was good... a total of 5 pounds thus far (the doctor was mightily impressed with me). Of course keep in mind this was pre-cruise... Think of the rest of this post like Flat Stanley. Only it will be from Cayden's perspective. He got to experience/see a lot of interesting things this week. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Here we are at Senor Frogs in Nassau, Bahamas. Cayden was getting his picture taken with Mr. Senor Frog himself after we observed what is to be a typical Spring Break experience for many college kids. We watched a Conga Line for shots, and then they began to dance away. It was loud...really loud. I kept thinking that I am TOO old for this! Ten years ago was a different story, but WOW... I am old. This is Cayden and I leaving Miami at the beginning of our cruise. It was quite windy, but we were pretty pumped about all the reading and sunbathing that was going to take place over the next few days. And then we looked down and saw...

Look closely. Yep, that is the coast guard with a very large automatic weapon chaperoning us out of the port. I'm not sure what they were protecting us from...Pirates?

Overall the cruise was really nice. Any chance I can get to lay out in the sun and read is great in my book (no pun intended). However, I also came down with a cold about 2 days into our trip so the last leg was not quite as enjoyable. I was tired, full of mucus/snot, and all that goes with a cold.

Cayden would report that he had a pretty good experience too. He happens to be a BIG fan of Caribbean tunes. He definitely is going to inherit his mom's rhythm and dance moves.

Happy Spring Break to all!

And the Winner is....

We found out we were having a boy on a Friday. If you have read previous posts you would know that my husband refused to discuss names until we knew for sure the gender. That Sunday we both sat down, he with a baby name book, and I with my previously made list. After a few hours of searching the book he had about 8-10 names to work with, and I had 12. To make it more interesting, because who doesn't like a little fun, we put the names on individual cards and drew them out of a jar. Immediately we began sorting. The Absolutely Nots! The Maybe for a Middle Names, and the Hmmm Let's Think About That One!

We only had one name in common...ONE! So being the fair and compromising duo that we are, WE decided to try out names. We would give each of our top three one week. A test run, so-to-speak.
I lost. The first day. Basically we started with Heath's favorite and it was over from there. For him there was no other name that could top that. Rather than putting up a huge fight, I gave in and said, "Fine, but I get exclusive rights to the next kids' name! And it can be anything I want!"
So the winner is.......Cayden Rhys Cruikshank.
As an English teacher I appreciate the alliteration it makes.

Here is me at 22 (fast approaching) 23 weeks.

I love my blogs. I love the fact that I can say whatever I want, and if I upset someone, or someone doesn't agree with me...who cares! I am having a REALLY hard time with the whole weight gain issue. I didn't think I would be this bad, but I am. Don't worry, I am not starving myself...but my self-esteem has hit the toilet and I feel like a marshmallow. I had to vent.

I was thinking on my way to work this morning all of the cool things Cayden has got to experience in-utero. A James Taylor concert with my mom. An upcoming cruise to the Bahamas. His first Krispy Kreme donut this morning. And yes, I understand that I complain about weight, and still I ate that donut...Pregnant women are crazy.

Cravings and Wants:

Fruit. Lots of it. Strawberries especially. Do you hear that BONEFISH! Get on the ball and bring back your Strawberry Shortcake. Trust me, it will be good for business.

Granola Bars. The cheap chocolate chip kind.

Blueberry muffins. They're just good.

(Apparently my cravings are breakfast related.)

The Mia Bossi Maria Baby Bag. If you look this up, please do not fall out of your seat when you see the price. I have not purchased it..........yet. :o)

Blog Updates

I am trying to revamp our blog. I really do not like the giant picture of us...If it were smaller, it would be better. I am thinking about learning HTML code and just doing it my way. Anywho, sorry for the underconstruction look of it! It will be better in time!~

Week 21

Hello kids, it's time for our weekly update of what is going on with my body! We find ourselves in week 21. Officially past the halfway point. So is it uphill or downhill from here? I suppose it depends if you are a glass half full or half empty person...

This week it seems that my belly has gotten bigger. I am not sure if I really notice it as much as everyone else seems to. I get comments from teachers about how far along I am and WOW! Look at your belly. Although they are sweet and caring...it begins to make me wonder... Do people think I am big based on how far along I am? I think when you are pregnant, your self-esteem and paranoia increases. Mine is definitely on High Alert.
* Other news: I think Heath and I have come to a conclusion on the name. As much as I give Heath a hard time about it, he really is the one that chose the name. I will reveal that in a later post.
* I leave on a cruise to the Bahamas in a week! Unfortunately I am not going with Heath (busy season) but I am going with my mom, and I know we will have a blast! I am not sure how being pregnant on a cruise is going to work out, but I will be sure to take lots of pictures. Mostly from the neck up...especially if I am in a swimsuit (scary).
* Lil' C seems to be moving around quite a bit. Heath was actually able to feel him move the other night. Only once, but I think Heath is satisfied for the time being. Everything else seems to be moving along pretty well. No complaints here...at least for now!

20 Weeks...

I really need to be more "on the money" with these belly picture/weekly blog updates. Technically, I am almost 21 weeks preggers, but I guess I will just be behind.

So in this 20th week of pregnancy, not much has happened. I must be in the "calm before the storm" phase, or at least with this post...the Quotations phase. My belly is getting bigger, I am sure I am getting fatter...and I am actually wearing Maternity Jeans, and pretty much loving it!

I was thinking this morning...Could you get away with maternity jeans after giving birth? And not the few weeks after...I mean like MONTHS after. They are comfy, and they pretty much look like regular jeans..who could tell if you were wearing them?

Baby Room stuff is coming around. The problem is putting our house up for sale. I really am not in the mood to decorate and paint, only to move soon after. My vote is to wait until we move, and then go crazy with the decor. For now we have furniture, and I almost for sure decision on bedding.
