Cayden and Millie - Birthday Blowout

Kristin and I decided to throw Cayden and Mille a dual birthday party. And really, the planning began months in advance (unlike poor Beckham). There is a great place where we are from, where the kids can run around, play, and just be three year olds. They "do" parties. "Do" is an understatement. They did a Fantastic job. They decorated, they cut cake, they served drinks and food...and they cleaned up. Seriously - there is talk about how many more birthdays we can have there. I mean, 12 or 13 year olds like fake grocery stores, train sets, and slides, right?

But really, it was the BEST party. These photos are in no particular order!

This is so them. Chasing. Running. Acting Silly.

Beckham was trying to console her, not hurt her....I think.

He apparently likes to touch heads.

I absolutely love. love. love. that Millie and Cayden are friends. I love that we are able to keep the friendship alive even thousands of miles apart, and that we pick up where we leave off. I wouldn't trade the Kuhlows for anything!
I also love that they will have copious amounts of pictures to put on their wedding slide show.

Beckham's First Birthday

It was three months ago. Trust me, I have plenty of reasons why I'm just now getting to this, but reality is that I should have posted at least two weeks ago. My blog posts are behind and it's getting to where it's just easier to ignore. But in my old age, my memory is failing, and I'm afraid that I'm forgetting things. I'll try to do this as if it was right around his birthday... wish me luck.

We decided to have Beckham's party the weekend after we returned from Florida. As it was, our weekends were starting to fill up with visits and things we wanted to do. Planning a party from Brasil was a little crazy, and considering we don't have a house to stay in, we had to lean on the generosity of family who let us crash their house. It was a small family affair. We had a few decorations, nothing too flashy. We ordered cupcakes from Kirby's (surprise) for everyone and made Beckham a special allergy free cake. It had no dairy, no soy, no peanuts, no eggs. Sounds delightful. Really, it was. It didn't look like it. It looked like, well... a big "mud" pie. But it tasted pretty good! We spent most of the time visiting with family and friends we hadn't seen in a few months, while the kids ran around.
We did have Sue Lee take pictures again. Thank goodness. She always does a good job, and it's one less thing for me to worry about.

I love this one. They look like they are deep in conversation. He's talking, she's listening.

The Fab Four. What will this look like in 10 years?

Poor Sydney. I'm sure Beckham stole a puff. He's quite the eater. At 12 months he was 22 pounds. That's not big, but the kid can pack away some food.  He was still nursing (not for long) and wasn't sleeping through the night. I'm sure that the nursing had a lot to do with it, as well as sleeping in the same room as me while we were visiting. He was getting into finger foods, but we still gave him pureed food, to make sure he was eating enough. We are still sure he has allergies, but we were waiting to get back to Brasil to have him tested. It's hard to remember his quirks at 12 months. He loves being outside, loves animals, loves food, and fruit, loves his mama, loves to wrestle with his brother, etc.

We were glad to get to spend time with everyone for Beck's birthday! I'm really glad both boys' birthdays are in the summer, so that we can do it every year!!
