I Love Fall

Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the smells, the weather, football (yes, even now), really everything. Last year was like a whirlwind. Cayden was three months old, we had just moved into our house, and I don't remember a lot of anything. I blame the lack of sleep. This year however, I find myself thinking back to what Cayden was like last year. He was so tiny, and we couldn't really get out and "do" stuff with him. This year will be a little different. I CANNOT wait to go to the pumpkin patch! I cannot wait to dress him in cute jeans, and little sweaters, ah. Little boys are too cute!

Cayden has become quite the master at spotting Razorbacks! While our season seems to be making laps around the toilet before heading down the sewer, we are still fans. And Cayden loves him some Razorbacks! He loves to point and yell, DAT! And then throw his arms in the air with his version of the Hog Call. No words, just arms.

He is also becoming a fast runner. He loves to be chased and runs around the kitchen with a semi-warrior cry. It has a nice vibrato to it that is caused by the pounding of his tiny feet.

 Here he is sporting a Hog Hat. Just today I noticed a new thing he does. When you ask him a question such as, "Are you supposed to be up there?" (on the fireplace) he shakes his head No. Of course when you tell him no, after a million times, he is slow to respond. We thought at first that maybe he just didn't understand, but now we know. Well played Cayden. Well played. We are on to his game now.

Cutie Pie watching me work outside! In case you were wondering... he still LOVES it outside. He gets quite upset when he can't go, so we find ourselves standing in the yard and he digs in the mulch. Honk if you go by.

Side note: My cousin and I have started a new business: The Hog Snout. She creates custom artwork, and I create handmade wood letters. Check us out on Facebook and Etsy

These Days..

With school being in session, it seems like the time I have to take pictures of Cayden are few and far between. He is into everything and definitely keeping us on our toes! We are just a few days away from him turning 14 months, and that alone is bananas! Each day he is doing something different than the previous day, or not liking something one day, and then being obsessed with it the next. Needless to say, we are having a great time at this stage!

He went through a stage here about a month ago where he wanted to be held. All. of. the. time. I could barely wash a bottle without him coming between me and the cabinets. While I am easily persuaded to not do any cleaning...sometimes it's necessary. He has this new thing where he puts stuff around his neck. Diaper bag...check. Heath's belt...check. Pumpkin bucket...check. Pretty much anything that can go, will go.

 Bath time is always fun. He's not a big fan of having his hair washed, but we muddle through. He does like to splash and turn the water on and off. He has recently had a case of Cradle Cap, so we are Head n Shoulders-ing it...hopefully it will go away.

 Speaking of obsessions. Vacuum cleaners. Dyson, great. Eureka, sure. Fisher Price, you betcha! He's always been on "alert" when we vacuum the house. He likes to pick up the hose, and even take a ride. Brandy and Uncle Money gave him this one for his birthday, and he plays with it constantly! Trips to the store (Target) are met with squeals of delight when we pass by the vacuum aisle. The crazy part is that he knows that they are vacuums. No matter what, he knows.

 Practicing our Woo Pig Sooie! Anytime he sees a Razorback, he throws his arms in the air!

While we were waiting for the game to start, we played in the yard. Thanks to Millie for our Razorback Red romper!

 Our next obsession is the laundry basket. He loves to climb in and hang out. I'll cover him up with a towel and act like I can't find him...and then all of a sudden, "There he is!" He LOVES it!

 We are starting child labor a little early around here. If he likes the vacuum, might as well put him to work!

 Third obsession. Standing on things we probably shouldn't... like the bed. The fireplace. The chair. I didn't mind this too much. I had taken the cushions out to fluff, and he climbed in to watch College Gameday!

Because it was so nice this evening, we put Cayden in his wagon and went to the park.
 He loves to swing, but gets tired of it after a few minutes.

Cayden's "Likes" this week...
* pickles
* watermelon
* Fruit Strips
* cupcakes
* vacuums
* brushing his teeth
* beating Lola with the giant plastic crayon
* sticking his finger in his nose

"Dislikes"
* diaper changes
* taking stuff away from him

A few notables...
He has started pulling at this diaper when he wants it changed. Not really when he poops, but when he pees. I'm thinking that it's time to bust out the baby toilet, and just let him get used to seeing it around. I am. not. potty training yet. But I have read that just putting the toilet out is a good first step.

He ate his first hot dog tonight. It was all beef, so I don't need to hear any gasps, and sounds of air being sucked in! It's not like we feed him these everyday...although he LOVED it.

Cayden,

You are so much fun right now! We love how curious you are, and how you pick things up so quickly. We could definitely move past the getting up at 5:15 time slot, but you are usually easy to put to bed! You started actually giving us kisses when we ask, and I'm telling you...it may be the best thing ever! Sometime we'll be looking outside and you just point and look at me, as if I should know what you are looking at and want. It's so sweet. We love you so much Cayden Rhys, I can't wait to see what new adventures you have for us!

Love,
Mom and Dad
